ONEPLUS 3T LAUNCHES: COME SEE WHAT IT HAS TO OFFEROnePlus has just introduced its newest smartphone: the OnePlus 3T. We've been getting plenty of rumors in but finally we have concrete information to sink our teeth into. We'll review the device soon but until then here's everything we know about the OnePlus 3T.
OnePlus 3T: design
If you liked the design of the OnePlus 3, you'll like the OnePlus 3T. OnePlus kept the aluminum unibody of the OnePlus 3. The edges are curved and give it an elegant appearance. The colors are premium: one is Soft Gold, a gold color with a very premium look; the other is Gunmetal, a dark gray that is attractive.
This device is large (although size is subjective), its dimensions are 152.7 x 74.7 x 7.35 mm. In the rest of the design, we find the classics: a fingerprint reader on the front (below the screen), the power button and the SIM card slot on one side and the volume rockers a silent button on the other.
OnePlus 3T: display
OnePlus opted for a 5.5-inch display again. This is something that was successful on its predecessor, the OnePlus 3. The OnePlus 3T comes with a Full-HD screen and this choice has advantages and disadvantages. One the one hand, the energy consumption is not too high, particularly with the AMOLED screen. But the downside is that the definition is not ideal for VR.
OnePlus 3T: performance
The device comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. In theory, it's a better processor than the OnePlus 3's Snapdragon 820, but how about in practice? We'll see once we're able to review it. As far as internal memory goes, it seems that 64 GB has become the norm. There is also a 128 GB variant, but the price is obviously higher. The RAM, meanwhile, is 6 GB, which is quite considerable.
Like with the Huawei Mate 9, OnePlus said it had worked on its file system to avoid seeing the performance degrade over time. With this the performance will be increased, both in terms of playing games and multitasking.
OnePlus 3T: software
The OnePlus 3T software will be identical to the OnePlus 3. It comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and decided to forgo Android 7.0 Nougat until another time. We don't yet have any indication as to when the update will happen for this device but we could expect sometime nextcomment
OnePlus 3T: camera
The device will use a 16 MP sensor in both the front and rear cameras. The optical image stabilizer is on the rear and that will enable sharper pictures. In theory, things are looking pretty good, but we need to do a thorough review of the camera system before we can make any conclusions.
At the front, we can expect quality selfies. Besides the large number of pixels, OnePlus 3T promises good results, even in poor lighting conditions.
OnePlus 3T: battery
The battery has been improved and OnePlus brough the capacity up to 3,400 mAh. That's okay for a phablet, it remains to be seen as to whether software optimization come out and bolster the battery. Will the smartphone really be able to last a day on a 30 minutes charge? This is not possible but we'll see when we conduct our review.
